About our research

Interdisciplinary work in sensing, drug formulation, and delivering

Our lab is conducting activities in the following areas:

  • Development and investigation of biomaterials for the delivery of: small molecules, macromolecular therapeutics including nucleic acids as well as cell therapies
  • Development of ingestible devices for electroceutical application including therapeutic and diagnostic indications
  • Synthesis and characterization of new biodegradable and bioresorbable materials
  • Development of new ultra-long drug delivery systems to support maximal adherence for a broad range of indications
  • Stem cell research with a focus on delivery and control challenges
  • Translational challenges including pre-clinical and first-in-human characterization of new drug delivery and sensing modalities
  • Development of machine learning tools to inform next generation solutions for drug formulation and delivery
  • Creating implantable and ingestible robotic systems capable of identifying unique signals and provide therapeutic interventions to support closed-loop interventions
  • Ex vivo / In vitro tissue models to study drug transport and tissue behavior

We regularly produce illustrative videos about our research and its applications.
